Possible Day Trips, Excursions and Concert Offerings
Blonay, with a lovely view over Lake Geneva, lies above Vevey and Montreux at an elevation of 600-700 metres above sea level and can be reached from Lausanne in 30 minutes, either by rail or motorway. Protected by its proud castle built during the twelfth century, Blonay is famous for the quality of its mild climate and for the charm of its slopes and forests. There are ample opportunities during all seasons for mountain climbing, hiking and skiing in the vicinity of the peak of the neighbouring Pleiades (1400m). The region is provided with excellent hiking paths, ski-lifts and slopes for skiers. The Blonay-Chamby Historic Steam Railway, the Botanical Garden and various museums in Vevey such as the Alimentarium, informing visitors of international nutritional habits, the Game Museum, the Art Museum and the Camera Museum are open all year round.
Montreux with its international music festivals (jazz and classical), Vevey with its all-year-round chamber music series and Lausanne with its rich concert life are all easy to reach by public transportation.
